Art Statement
My work is an interpretation of how I experience the natural world. Whether I am drawing, painting, or creating digital art, the images represent the bodily and physical senses, which live in each line, brushstroke, and color. As an artist, I refine my appreciation for the outside world and bring it into the pictorial space. I make art with music filling my studio space, articulating the natural rhythm of life. My compositions are filled with altering entry points that continuously create a rhythmic, multi-dimensional landscape, and the lines coalesce to form new shapes and structures in a spontaneous, intuitive process. My paintings, drawings, and digital work are informed by geometry, plants, flowers, architecture, the human body, the ocean, the urban environment, geological processes, the cosmos, and music. I approach my artwork with the intent of creating an explosive, musical landscape, allowing the viewer to travel through the pictorial space to find a story, nuance, and detail within the colors, layers, and texture.
